Close-up of a derailed locomotive slightly buried into the ground, with train cars behind it; the outcome of a collision with a 7-ton sand truck. The locomotive is leaning at crooked angle. About a dozen bystanders are visible on the left. The number "2451" is on the front of the locomotive and the train number -- “76” -- is on each of the two indicator boards (more clearly visible on the right). In the background are power lines and mountains. The Southern Pacific Railroad locomotive had collided with a seven-ton sand truck on the train tracks in Glendale. A dozen people were injured, with no fatalities.
