Los Angeles Times, 20 Oct. 1935 Socialites, Ruth Rogers and Mrs. Milton Hicks (Alice Virginia Baker) and film actor, Charles Farrell, stand in front of chimneyed house with a window. All are in active wear, especially Farrell who dons a tennis outfit. He holds a hat in his hand. They stand at the end of a paved walkway. In the immediate foreground, the rest of the walkway (or perhaps the driveway) appears to be under construction as there are several pieces of broken concrete. There is bare dirt surrounding the house, which gives the impression that the home is still being completed or going through improvements. This image is most likely related to a social event that was hosted at the Palm Springs Raquet Club, where actors Ralph Bellamy and Farrell were invited to play tennis. The newlywed Hicks owned a home in Palm Springs, which is where this photograph was probably taken.
