A female passenger, Mrs. Esther Pearce, pays her fare on a trolley as a male Los Angeles Railway employee, J.W. Looney, looks on. Pearce carries a coat with a fur collar on one arm. Looney wears a uniform typical of an urban railway operator or ticket taker of the time, with a brimmed cap, three-piece suit, and a portable coin dispenser belted to his middle. Another railcar can be seen in the background.
