Mule teams would carry freight through the deserts to Los Angeles before the railroads went there. Remi Nadeau originated the 20 mule team until the railroads were built.
Two twenty-mule teams in the desert. Three wagon carts can be seen attached to the front mule train. People and mules and horses and single wagons can be seen to the left of the picture.
