Former First Lady Mrs. Lou Henry (Herbert) Hoover attends her first annual session of the Whitter College executive board as trustee after her appointment in January, 1935. Along with her in the photograph is the president of Whittier College, Dr. William Orville Mendenhall [she was also present at his appointment in 1934]. The session was held in his office at Founder's Hall on the college campus.

It was Mrs. Hoover's initial appearance as a trustee folowing her appointment in January.
