He is wearing a track uniform of the University of Southern California, where he was a student from 1922 to 1926. In this photograph, Houser has just released his discus in his characteristic style. In the background, other athletes and onlookers watch the discus [not in frame] as it travels. Bud Houser was an American athlete who participated in the 1924 Olympics where he won gold medals for shot put and discus, and the 1928 Olympics where he retained his title in the discus throw.
