Everett G. Hoffman, director of the American White Cross Association on Drug Addiction, upon arriving in Los Angeles to testify before the Los Angeles Social Services Commission where the International White Cross Anti-Narcotic League Inc. was seeking approval for a fund-raising campaign. A retired automobile salesman, Mr. Hoffman was also the head on the World Narcotics Research Foundation in Seattle, WA. in the 1930's. He gave several speeches stressing on narcotics awareness and got on the wrong side of the government, until 1938, when it became clear during a trial that the Bureau of Narcotics (D.E.A) were attempting to frame him for criminal charges, following which, he stopped.
