Brown of New York, publisher and controlling owner since 1911 of Editor & Publisher Co., the leading trade publication for the newspaper field. Mr. Brown was also a member of the Legion of Honor and ex-president of the Advertising Club of New York. He was a vocal supporter of the Freedom of Speech movement. This photograph was taken while he was in Los Angeles with his wife after an ocean voyage.
