Mr. Craven was an employee of the Los Angeles Times from 1923 to 1956 (his death), rising through the ranks from assistant telegraph editor to being the assistant managing editor. In the years that he covered the night shift as the news editor and assistant managing editor, Mr. Craven was largely responsible for the make up of the Times' home edition.
