The Norton Building is located at Sixth Street and Broadway in Los Angeles. On October 23, 1935, an explosion destroyed the lower interior of the building, including The Owl Drug Co. and two outfitting stores. The building received a major façade alteration in 1940. Possibly related to "Dozen Hurt in Explosion: Stores Burn Downtown," Los Angeles Times, 24 Oct 1935: 1 and "Store Blast Cause Found: Downtown Blaze Resulting in Injury of Dozen, Held Due to Welding Fire," Los Angeles Times, 25 Oct 1935: A2. Blurry images of people are in the picture. Two mailboxes and a short ladder are in front of the building. The building is papered in closing sale signs from Lord's.
