Greene, business manager of the late actor, was appointed executor of the estate. Secretary Anna Belle Quintin witnessed the signing of the will by attorney Peyton H. Moore. Gilbert's fourth wife Virginia Bruce and their two-year-old daughter was left the bulk of his estate, and his 11-year-old daughter Leatrice Joy, whose mother was his second wife, was given $10,000.
