The garment is evidence in the investigation of the murder of Alberta Meadows by Clara Phillips. Clara Phillips, 28 years old, murdered nineteen year old Alberta Meadows in July 1922 and was convicted of the murder and sent to San Quentin Prison. She was paroled in 1935.
