Ernie Nevers, former All-American player from Stanford, formed the Ernie Nevers National Collegiate professional football team that played Nate Barranger's Trojan All-Stars at Wrigley field on January 17, 1932. Russ Saunders, a former Trojan player, was in the game and featured in a photograph in the article "Nevers Eleven Captures Game," Los Angeles Times, 18 Jan. 1932: 5.
