John S. Schnepp is the former mayor of Springfield, Illinois. He is held in Los Angeles on suspicion of embezzlement; Schnepp ascertains that he lost his memory three years ago and wandered around the country to find someone to tell him who he was. Schnepp's facial hair was trimmed so he could be more easily identified by former Springfieldians who knew him without a beard. Schnepp is draped with a polka dot smock, watching as Latham scrapes a straight razor on a stone. Text from negative sleeve: SCHNEPP, JOHN S. former mayor of Springfield, Ill. embezzlement lost memory wandered to LA [stamped:] 1935 Handwritten on negative: John S. Schnepp Chas A. Latham
