Patrolman Roy Mills is dressed in uniform and squats on his haunches holding a club and a flashlight.
Text from newspaper caption: Patrolman Roy Mills of Fullerton-they have nicknamed him Spider-has made something of a record for himself among his townfolk. It seems that the officer spends the wee hours of each morning when time hangs heavy over his head killing Black Widows. He says the dangerous insects lurk in alleys and other dark places. So with a special night club he swats the spiders-as many as eighteen or twenty almost every morning.
Photograph appears with newspaper caption, "Officer Wars on 'Black Widows'," Los Angeles Times, 04 Feb 1936: 9.
