This was also the photo used for his column until April 11, 1936. Portrait photograph of E. V. Durling. Crop lines are marked on the photo. E. V. Durling wrote "On the Side" for the Los Angeles Times from February 16, 1936 to November 18, 1939. He then joined King Features Syndicate and went nationwide, but the LA Times was unable to purchase rights to run his column.
