Large splinters and beams of wood stick out of the muddy edifice and narrow river underneath the ruins. Three people can be seen looking at the scene from the top of the road.

Text from newspaper caption: Its supporting timbers weakened by heavy torrents caused by the recent storm, the wooden bridge spanning the Los Angeles river on Rhodes avenue one block north of Ventura Boulevard collapsed yesterday. Here is the result.
