Camarillo State Hospital in front of a mountain range. The large hospital was built to treat patients with mental illnesses. The construction was a Public Works Administration (PWA) project. It was later used as the California State University Channel Islands campus.

Text from newspaper caption: Here is a view of the new $6,000,000 State mental hospital going up at Camarillo. This is the first unit, which will house 1250 men patients from other overcrowded institutions. The red-tiled buildings are forming a real "new city."
