Ray Hays was the business manager for actress Thelma Todd, who was found dead on December 16, 1935. Her death was initially ruled a suicide but evidence of foul play ignited a deeper investigation conducted by a grand jury. Hays was one of the executors of her will, entrusted with managing her estate. Todd's death was ruled as "accidental with possible suicide tendencies."
Ray Hays stands against a marble wall, holding his hat and cigarette in one hand.
