Deems of Long Beach was announced as State Registrar of Motor Vehicles after serving for ten years as publisher of the Long Beach Shopping News and fourteen years as head of his own advertising agency, but implies that he won't be able to make the official ceremonies in Sacramento on the first day of January because of his tickets to the Rose Bowl game.
