Paul Hubbard, originally from Dallas, describes the economic advantages to his turn-of-the-century vehicle, a two-cylinder Schacht.
Photograph appears with the article, "Turn-of-Century Car Still Runs, Saving Plenty," Los Angeles Times, 13 Mar 1936: A1.
Mr. Hubbard stands at the front of the vehicle while Mrs. Lacey climbs in the other side and Mr. Harris inspects a headlight.
Text from newspaper caption: Six speeds ahead but not much speed has this old two-cylinder horseless carriage which chugged at fifteen miles an hour from Santa Cruz. Paul Hubbard, center, the owner, said it gets forty miles to a gallon. They built it in 1900. Mrs. F. Lacey and U. T. Harris are looking it over.
