Retired organist Samuel Whittaker was arrested in March on the suspicion of murdering his wife, Ethel Whittaker. In June he was found guilty of her murder and guilty of assault with intent to murder for shooting James Fagan Culver. Whittaker is photographed seated, wearing a hat, with one hand holding his cane and another on his chin. Dramatic lighting casts a dark shadow behind him.
