While in a car with their mothers driving to court for approval of a film contract when Dickie's mother Mrs. LaVerne Jones stopped at a stop sign located at Third and Figueroa Streets when William E. Bruner drove into their car, throwing the children to the floor of the car. Photograph appears with the article, "Child Film Actors Hurt," Los Angeles Times, 18 Mar 1936: A1. Alberta holds Dickie's face in her hands as the two sit side by side. Alberta wears a bandage over her left eye and Dickie has a bandage wrapped around his head. Text from negative sleeve: 4414 - Alberta Dugan Dickie Jones child actors in accident on way to court for contract approvals Hurt in accident 3/17/36 [stamped:] Mar 19 1936 Handwritten on negative: Alberta Dugan Dickie Jones 3/17/36 Text from newspaper caption: Alberta Dugan played a new role yesterday when she bandaged the head of Dickie Jones following their injuries in a traffic accident. Both are film actors and were en route to court to seek judicial approval of motion-picture contracts.
