Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Thomas McCaffery in his office at the Southern Pacific Railroad Arcade Depot. McCaffery sits in a desk chair looking at a piece of paper. A calendar hangs above the desk opened to April 1906. A hat is on the desk along with a small portrait of a man. There is a Southern Pacific Railroad map on the wall and what may be a spittoon at McCaffery's feet. Text from negative sleeve: 6. Los Angeles Arcade Depot Apl 1906 ["about 1905" crossed out]. Thomas McCaffery in his office. H. H. West was his chief clerk. McCaffery had been promoted to Assistant Superintendent and my desk and typewriter and telephone is at the left side of the photo. McCaffery was killed in an Auto accident between Bakersfield and Taft, California in 1917. [Handwritten at the bottom:] 9/10/48.
