Text from negative sleeve: 19. Los Angeles, Magnolia Ave near Venice Boulevard. Brown's house. Browns used to live near Whitakers on Water Street (now Avenue 18) Los Angeles, and built this house about 1900. Whitakers liked it immensely, and finally contracted with George M. West to build one just like it on a lot they had bought on Griffin Ave between Manitou and Baldwin streets. This house on Magnolia still stands, and the house on Griffin Ave. now belongs to Mrs. H. H. West and is No. 2223 Griffin Ave. Whitaker built his house on Griffin Ave in 1902.
