Toms place is an unincorporated community in Mono County on Rock Creek, named after the resort "Tom's Place."
H. H. West and his brother-in-law, Forrest Whitaker, sit at a campsite at Tom's Place. They both sit on chairs with their legs crossed. There is a table between them, which is covered with various supplies and they sit under an awning. In the foreground there are the shadows of two people.
