Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. William Shaw teaches H. H. West Jr. how to catch grasshoppers. Shaw holds what appears to be a fishing pole as well as a pole with a net at the end. West holds a jar. Shaw leans forward wearing a plaid jacket and boots. There is a wood shed at the left of the photograph. William Shaw was H. H. West's brother-in-law. Text from negative sleeve: Twin Lakes, 1929. [Handwritten: 1929.] We leave 2223 Griffin Ave in our Chandler car. Hebard West in car, Will Shaw and H. H. West standing beside it. We reach Twin Lakes above Bridgeport, Calif. and make camp under a pine tree by the lower lake. Using a dish towel too long, when the rest of the party came in to the camp they noticed the dirty towel and called the place "The Camp of the Dirty Dish Towel." 2 negatives. Will Shaw showing H. H.
