Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph, from left to right, of Frances Cline (partially obscured), Elizabeth West and Frances West wading in Big Tujunga Creek. Frances Cline appears to be tangled up behind Elizabeth West and is partially obscured. She wears a light-colored plaid outfit. Elizabeth West and Frances West face each other, but both look bemusedly at something out-of-frame on the right. Both girls wear dark-colored skirts, matching white tops and bows in their hair. Frances West holds a small rectangular container in her hand. A large boulder lies in the water behind the trio. Boulders and chaparral are scattered across the mountainside in the background. Elizabeth West, Frances West and Francis Cline were about 9, 6 and 8 years old, respectively, in 1912. They look older than that in this photograph. Text from negative sleeve: 200. Big Tejunga [sic], Calif. 1912. Bessie McGee Velzy and Mrs H. H. West. 15 pictures of Elizabeth West, Frances West and Frances Cline playing in Big Tejunga [sic] Creek. 16 negatives.
