Photograph of "Cap" (Clarence) Jargstorff holding a shovel amidst a grassy patch of the Catalina shoreline that is strewn with debris. He stands in the center with one hand on his hip and the other holding the handle of a shovel as he looks off to the right. He dons a white apron and chef's hat. The grassy patch of land he stands on lies between the sand and the cliffs. Low-stacked, loose bricks line the ground at lower left. Metal cans, wooden crates, a pot, spoons and other metal containers clutter the ground around him. Behind Clarence's right shoulder, a man wearing a suit and fedora stands amidst the debris. Another person in dark clothes dashes behind Clarence. Two small boats are moored on the beach at the left. A cliff rises out of the water on the right side of the photograph.
