Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. John T. Bailey stands in profile and poses for a photograph with about a dozen dead ducks killed on a shoot. He stands at center, facing right, with ducks tethered to a strap that is slung over his shoulder. His visible hand hangs at his side while it grasps a few ducks. He wears boots, a jacket and a fedora. His shadow casts towards the left corner. In the distance, a picket fence just enters the frame at right. Text from negative sleeve: 306. Cazadores Gun Club. About 1912. John T. Bailey. President of Bailey-Schmitz Co., Los Angeles. Not a very good shot, and sold out in a couple of years. When he sold, he told me I could have his room at the clubmand[sic] the bed in it. It was the only room with a bed; all the other rooms had only an army cot, but John being in the Furniture business had taken down a good single bed and bedding. When I bought into the Sunset I left Bailey's bed at the Cazadores, as I had bought a share in the Sunset that entitled me to sleep in a shack outside the club - a small portable house that Doc Hardin had bot[sic] from a man (name forgotten) [from the left margin: His name was Fred Walton] who was agent for the Lankershims, who took the shack to the Cazadores Club so he could take his wife down and have a place for her. He sold out on the Cazadores and Doc Hardin bot[sic] the little house and moved it to the Sunset Club, and I gave Doc. over
