Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. H. H. West, his wife, and daughters sit in a tree in Chatsworth Park (now called Chatsworth). Both girls wear white outfits and dark tights. Mrs. West hugs Elizabeth West to her. H. H. West wears a suit and holds a cigar. There are initials carved into the tree. Based on other photographs, the adults in this image appear to be H. H. West and his first wife, Mary Adelbert Teel West Shepard. Though the negative sleeve dates this photograph as about 1910, West's daughters appear to be older than four and seven, as they would have been in 1910, so the date has been estimated to be circa 1915. Text from negative sleeve: 325. Chatsworth Park, Calif. About 1910. L to R: The to older persons are not now identified. The girls are Elizabeth and Frances West. L to R: Guy West's dog "Draper." Bessie Velzy, Mrs Guy West, Mrs H. H. West, Elizabeth West peeping around, Frances West - back to camera, Glen Velzy. 2 negatives.
