Photograph of 7 people in the H. H. West and Glen Velzy families at a camp at Convict lake with 3 automobiles and 2 tents in view in a rocky landscape with low-growing plants and mountains in the distance. A boy stands in front of the central tend and 4 of the women wear white bonnets.
Text from negative sleeve: Convict Lake, Calif. 1914. The Wests and the Velzys go to Convict Lake for a vacation. The grade over the last hill was too steep and sandy for cars then, and we had to camp out by Convict Creek, on the slope about a mile or so from the lake. Our camp on the slope up from the valley to the lake. The party consisted of Mr Glen Velzy and his wife Bessie McGee Velzy. Mrs George M. West. Mrs. H. H. West, H. H. West, and two children Elizabeth and Frances West. I had a Buick touring car and Glen had a Buick runabout.
