Bessie Velzy wades into Whitmore Tub on the right. She wears a knit cardigan and bucket hat. Behind her to the left, Frances West (left) and Elizabeth West (right) stand near the edge of the hot spring and look on as Bessie stands in the water. Frances and Elizabeth both wear button down coats and knit hats. On the left side of the spring, a pallet sits in the grass with articles of clothing lying atop it. To the right of the pallet, a wood plank sits at the water's edge. The spring occupies the lower right-side of the image. Tall grasses surround it. Low hills stand in the background.
