Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph, from left to right, of Elizabeth West and Minnie West sitting at a table in camp near Convict Lake. They sit at center with the table to the right. Elizabeth sits slightly away from the table with her back to camera; she holds something to her mouth and turns her head to look towards the camera. Minnie West sits a little behind her at the table. She faces right and scratches her head. To the right of them stands the table; it is covered in a table cloth and cups and plates rest upon it. A couple of vacant camp chairs are around the table. A boulder sits in front of the foot of a large tree to the left of Elizabeth and Minnie. Additional camp supplies are strewn around the boulder. At lower left, the shadow of someone out-of-frame enters the frame and extends at an angle towards the right. A large stick lies on the ground in front of Elizabeth. Behind the camp is a line of trees. Beyond the trees, a couple of mountains stand in the background in the right and left corners. Text from negative sleeve: 344. Convict Creek, Calif. 1915.
