Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the McClellan, Stavnow, West and Velzy party as they arrive at their camp site near Convict Lake. Two cars sit parked next to each other at the center of the image. Glen Velzy's Buick Runabout is parked nearest to camera on the left. The front of the car faces towards the right. The tonneau is laden with camping gear. To the right, [Charles] Stavnow's Dodge is parked parallel to the Buick, but facing the opposite direction. Sitting atop the Dodge and hanging out the back is a long canoe. Members of the camping party sit and stand around the vehicles. Frances West stands away from the group on the far right. Behind them, two tall coniferous trees rise up at center and right, with another tree in the distance between the two. Far in the distance, mountains rise in the background. Text from negative sleeve: 345. Convict Lake, Calif. 1915. McClellan, Stavnow, West & Velzy party. Our arrival at camp in the evening. Ted McClellan's boat on Stavnow's Dodge Car.
