Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of the Velzy's sleeping quarters, pitched alongside Convict Creek. The "bedroom" is situated at the center of the photograph. It is open on the sides and is covered by a canopy. The canopy over the site is anchored to the ground and propped up with a large stick on the leftmost corner, tied with string around a tree at center and anchored to rocks at right. Under the canopy, a bed sits low to the ground and extends from the open side of the "bedroom" on the left towards the rocks at right. On the right, boulders are in a pile. Clothes lie and hang around the campsite. Jackets hang from the tree at center, a shirt hangs off the right side of the canopy, clothes lie on the rocks and a shirt hangs from tree branches in the upper right corner. A person's shadow is cast in the lower left corner. Text from negative sleeve: 356. Convict Lake, 1915. Glen Velzy and wife make their bed in the rocks right alongside of Convict Creek.
