H. H. West stands left of center behind a boulder. One foot is slightly forward with a bend at the knee. He rests his hands on his rifle, which rests across his forward leg. H. H. looks to camera and wears a hat and a suspender. In front of him, 4 dead sage hen (grouse) lie in a row atop the boulder in the foreground. A hillside rises in the background at right. The image is out of focus.
Text from negative sleeve: 361. Convict Lake, 1915. Stavnow, McClellan and the Velzys left for home, about September 2, 1915. I stayed, and went up to the head of the lake to get sage hen. We had seen some up there the day previous. I got my limit - 4. Here they are. H.H.West and limit of sage hen.
