Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. H. H. West stands just right-of-center behind a boulder. His right leg is propped up on the boulder. He rests his right hand to his right leg. In his left hand, he holds the barrel of his rifle with the butt of the gun resting on the boulder. H. H. looks off to the right and wears a hat and suspenders. In front of him, 4 dead sage hen (grouse) lie in a row atop the boulder in the foreground. A hillside rises in the background at right. Ground brush expands into the distance behind him. Text from negative sleeve: 361. Convict Lake, 1915. Stavnow, McClellan and the Velzys left for home, about September 2, 1915. I stayed, and went up to the head of the lake to get sage hen. We had seen some up there the day previous. I got my limit - 4. Here they are. H.H.West and limit of sage hen.
