Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Caption taken from negative sleeve incorrectly identifies Wilhelmina (Minnie) Lemberger West as Frances West. Photograph, from left to right, of Minnie West, Elizabeth West and H. H. West posing with the limit (4) of sage hen (grouse) around a boulder near Convict Lake. H. H. sits atop the boulder in front of Minnie and Elizabeth. His body sits facing towards the left with his left leg stretched out on the boulder. In his left hand, he holds up one of the sage hen. He grasps the barrel of his rifle with his right hand. He tilts his upper body forward and looks to camera. A long piece of grass hangs out his mouth. Behind him, Minnie and Elizabeth stand to his left and look to camera. The barrel of the rifle extends upwards between them. Minnie wears a hat and Elizabeth wears a bow in her hair. Elizabeth is partially obscured by H. H.'s arm and hat. In the foreground, 3 dead sage hen lie on the left side of the boulder. A hillside rises in the background at right.
