Photograph of Charles Rucher stepping away from horses that are hitched to a hitching post off the side of a road. He is blurred as moves to the left mid-stride. His back is towards the horses at right. A horse (partial view) is viewed from the side with only his front half visible. The horse faces the background. It wears harnesses and is tied to a hitching post in front of him. The neck of another horse is visible behind him. Near the hitching post, a sign lying on the ground reads, "Picki[ng?]." A dirt road winds into the distance behind Charles.
