Chet Edgell, owner of garage at Independence wired me October 1, 1916 heavy fall of snow; big bucks down on flat. Come up for deer. Went to Independence on train. Chet met me with an old delapidated[sic] Peerless truck and we drove up Scotty's Springs, head of Division creek, above the Los Angeles Power Plant.
