Their campsite is hidden behind a pipeline that runs horizontally across the image. Chet stands at the campsite at center. He is partially obscured by a pipeline in front of him. A stove pipe and tent are partially visible in the campsite. A pile of rocks stands in front of the pipeline. A wooden plank leans against the pile of rocks. The rest of the campsite is surrounded by trees. Text from negative sleeve: 414. Division Creek, between Independence and Big Pine. 1916. Chet Edgell, owner of garage at Independence wired me October 1, 1916 heavy fall of snow; big bucks down on flat. Come up for deer. Went to Independence on train. Chet met me with an old delapidated[sic] Peerless truck and we drove up Scotty's Springs, head of Division creek, above the Los Angeles Power Plant. We camped under the pipe line, in some willows, in the snow. Our camp behind the pipe line. Chet Edgell looking over the pipe. 2 films of Scotty's Springs, just above us. Snow way down on hills. 3 negatives.
