He stands at center and holds the lone rabbit he shot in one hand and holds his rifle in the crook of his elbow with his other arm. Directly behind him, an unidentifiable man (partial view) sits on the ground with a gun across his lap. Another gun lies on the ground behind and to the right of H. H. West. Text from negative sleeve: 418. Duarte about 1897. Uncle Frank Lemberger then lived in Monrovia. He used to hunt rabbits in the Duarte wash. I took father out one Sunday, furnishing him with a gun, and Uncle Frank, father and I walked out east of Monrovia to the Duarte wash. I got the one and only rabbit all day. H.H.West with the lone rabbit.
