An underexposed photograph of Will Mead kneeling with his gun in front of a citrus tree in an orchard at Captain C. E. (Cameron Erskine) Thom's ranch in Glendale. He kneels on tilled ground with his back knee to the ground and the other bent towards the camera. He looks to the left and holds on to the barrel of his rifle with his back hand. The gun is oriented upwards with the butt of the gun resting on the ground. Directly behind him is a citrus tree.
Text from negative sleeve: 492. Glendale, Calif. Capt Thom's Ranch. 1898. W.P.Mead. Poor negative. Will Mead and the banana plant on the ground. Two of Foreman White's children in the sulky. Foreman White, wife and children. H.H.West. 5 negatives.
