Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of H. H. West sitting next to a citrus tree at Captain C. E. (Cameron Erskine) Thom's ranch in Glendale. The small tree stands at center. H. H. sits just to the left of and in front of it on a small slope. He sits up with his legs crossed in front of him. He holds a piece of fruit in his hand. He faces camera, but his eyes appear to be closed. A rifle rests against the front of the tree with the barrel oriented upwards and the butt of the gun resting on the ground. Fruit trees in the orchard dot the background. Text from negative sleeve: 492. Glendale, Calif. Capt Thom's Ranch. 1898. W.P.Mead. Poor negative. Will Mead and the banana plant on the ground.
