Photograph of H. H. West in front of a shack at the camp at Grays Meadows at the start of their trip to Gardner Creek.
Gray Meadows camp ground is situated along Independence Creek in the Onion Valley area of the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Text from negative sleeve: 543. Gardner Creek trip, about 1919. At the start of the trip, we drove our cars from Independence to Gray's Meadow on Pine Creek, at foot of the trail, where Guide Robinson met us with pack train. There was an old shack at Gray's Meadows used by the Forest Ranger and this picture of H. H. West was taken in front to it, as well as the other picture of the group in envelope #542.
