Text from negative sleeve: 552. Gardner Creek trip, about 1919. The roughest, rockiest trail I even went over, going up from Gardner Creek to the divide from Charlotte Lake. Not much trouble coming down this trail on the way in, but it was awful getting up. Horses worked like they were climbing a ladder. Our train is in the rocks, right in the center of the picture. I dropped behind to get this. No trouble to catch them. A close up of the train going up. 3 negatives.
