Description
Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Photograph of Charles Stavnow fishing in Bullfrog Lake in what is now designated as Kings Canyon National Park. He stands at center with his back to the camera and faces right. He holds a fishing rod in one hand as he stands on the edge of the lake's bank. The bank he stands on extends from the low right upwards to the left. On the opposite bank, a tree-covered hill stands behind Charlie. Mountains rise in the far distance. Text from negative sleeve: 553. Gardner Creek trip, about 1919. We get to Bullfrog lake and go into camp. It starts to rain. 2 negatives xxx [crossed out] making camp. Two negatives of my green tent set up on the edge of Bullfrog lake. It commenced to sleet and ice sagged the tent and finally tore it badly where it wasin[sic] the tree. It was cold. Had hard time start a fire, account everything wet. Finally got some supper and glad to get inside the tent out of the cold and rain. Next day was fine.
