West's daughters, Elizabeth and Frances, and mother, Wihelmina West, sit around a picnic blanket. Cooper wears a hat and a white tie. Elizabeth wears a checked dress and bow in her hair. She holds food in her hand and looks toward her sister. Frances is drinking from a bottle with a label that reads, in part, "extra...ale lager..." Mrs. West is visible in profile. She wears glasses and holds food in both hands. Cups, newspaper, food, and what may be a canteen are on the picnic blanket. There are trees and bushes in the background.
