Access to this collection is generously supported by Arcadia funds. Wilhelmina Lemberger West was H. H. West's mother. Mary West (Mary Adelbert Teel West Shepard) was H. H. West's wife, and Elizabeth and Frances were their daughters. Mary West, H. H. Cooper, Elizabeth and Frances West, Wilhelmina West, and an unidentified woman sit around a picnic blanket. Mary West wears a large hat that ties under chin. She holds her hands on her knees and has a white cloth in her lap. There are newspapers and what may be a camera case at her feet. Mr. Cooper reclines smoking a cigar. He wears a hat and a white tie. Elizabeth holds food up to her mouth and wears a checked dress. Frances wears bows in her hair. Both girls sit on a long cushion. Wilhelmina West holds a piece of food and wears glasses. She appears to be chewing. The unidentified woman wears a large hat and glasses. She holds a newspaper in her lap. Boxes, newspapers, cups, and what may be a canteen are on the picnic blanket. There are trees and bushes behind them, as well as a field in the background. Text from negative sleeve: 557.
